CHILD WELFARE PRACTICE COACHING
Have you ever attended a training only to forget a week or two later what you had learned? Even if the training was extremely applicable, interesting and one that you thoroughly enjoyed - if the skills learned are not actively practiced and supported, they will fade. Training is wonderful and necessary, but often times there are no transfer of learning opportunities which reinforce the training. Coaching is a wonderful way to reinforce concepts and skills.
Coaching is also a wonderful way to put the "human" back into human services. The ability to be present with each other, look beyond the task or "compliance" to see the person, to focus on how we want to "be" as individuals, units, and organizations vs the "doing" are all things that enhance job satisfaction, retention, and ultimately the services we provide to families and children.
